Looking Back–U.S. Options for Syrian Chemical Weapons Attacks

The alleged August 21 use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government against civilians near Damascus in the protracted war there prompted President Obama to consider what action the U.S. could take that would be appropriate and useful. This week in Adult Ed we will consider what guidance Scripture has for us when we face volatile conflagrations that could kindle additional violence. What standards should our nation use when evaluating whether the actions of another country rise to a level so heinous as to justify a military response? What, in your opinion, constitutes a crime against humanity? What level of proof of crimes against humanity should be required before a nation or nations intervene in another nation’s internal affairs?
