“A Homecoming Celebration” September 22nd Sermon

The sermon will explore the parable of the prodigal son and how God’s grace is continually calling each one of us to a more meaningful experience of God’s love in our lives, church and communities.   The scripture passage is Luke 15:11-32.

After the worship service, there is a time of refreshments and fellowship. At 10:45 am, Christian Education for children and adults will meet.

Adult Education September 15 at 10:45 a.m.

Last week, Diana Nyad, 64, completed her longtime goal of swimming from Havana, Cuba, to Key West, Florida, becoming the first person to do so without being in a protective cage.  This followed four unsuccessful attempts, the first being when she was only 28.

Her story gives us an opportunity to talk about persistence, for sure, but also about the “human condition,” the meaning of failure, and where God fits into all of this.  So those will be the topics of this week’s Adult Education session.  More on this story can be found at these links:

“Jesus’ Invitation to be Free” August 25th Sermon
