The Armistice of 1918 ended the horrendous slaughter of World War I, called THE WAR TO END ALL WARS. When the Armistice was signed, exuberant JOY broke out around the world. For many years bells rang 11 times at that 11th hour of the 11th day on the 11th month. Then it slowly faded away, especially in the U.S. Now we ring bells again, many bells, many places, 11 times, at that sacred moment. With a moment of silence, we remember the soldiers and civilians killed in warfare in every country, and we commit to work and pray for peace until this assault on the Will of the Creator of us all, is finally over. Plan to stay after worship this Sunday to hear the bell rung 11 times in recognition of this day.

A Congregational Meeting is called for the purpose of approving the 2024 Slate of Officers. The meeting will take place on Sunday, November 19th, immediately following worship.

STEWARDSHIP and DONUTS!!

Sunday, November 5th, is also DONUT SUNDAY!! Also known as the annual Stewardship Sunday. This year, you are challenged to see how many “DONUT$ you can add to your 2023 pledge. If a traditional DONUT cannot be added to your pledge, let the traditional Long John DONUT guide you. We know that decisions should not be made on an empty stomach, so come and join us on Stewardship Sunday. In addition to the normal operating pledging, we also have an opportunity for Mission directed pledging available on your pledge card. We’ve also added a check box if you would like to receive more information on contributing to the long-term investment fund. Our tradition of DONUTS from OTTO ’s Bakery in Byron continues!!

This year’s stewardship theme is “Community Grows Here.” CPC members and friends received a letter and pledge card. Extra pledge cards and packets are available in the narthex at church. Please plan to return the pledge card on Stewardship Sunday, November 5 or next week. Remember, all budget decisions are based on the pledged amounts… so all pledges are important!
